Stapleton's season is over
Craig Stapleton's season looks over after he was charged with a Grade One Striking charge.
Even if he takes a guilty plea, he will miss the Eels last match against the Roosters. Stapleton, who is the only Eel to have played every match this season, will need to contest the charge if he is to play out the entire year.
It's possible that Stapleton - who, outside of Nathan Hindmarsh, has been Parramatta's most consistent performer throughout 2004, has played his last game in the Blue and Gold.
Stapleton has not yet been resigned by the Eels and has been strongly linked to the Tigers. With the number of players the Eels have brought into the squad for next year, they may find it difficult to keep Stapleton whose worth will have increased considerably following his stellar season with Parramatta.
