Lyon shopped around

The Jamie Lyon circus continues with the St George Illawarra Dragons the latest club to be linked to Jamie Lyon.

The Daily Telegraph reported today that uncle and manager Mick Smith has approached Dragons coach Nathan Brown, about recruiting the run-away star.

The Raiders and West Tigers have also been allowed to talk to Lyon but both have expressed frustration that the fact that Lyon is constantly changing managers is making progress difficult. Lyon hired high-profile manager Wayne Beavis, but Beavis ended his association with Lyon when the former Eels star proved impossible to track down.

The story said that Parramatta would request a $150,000 release fee meaning a two-year contract at $300,000 per year would cost any club who wants him $750,000.

It seems ridiculous that the Dragons, who already have a State of Origin centre pairing in Matt Cooper and Mark Gasnier, and who have had much-publicised salary cap issues, would even come into the frame for Lyon's services.
