Four Eels in team of the eighties
Four Parramatta greats have been named in the Team of the 80's but the mighty Mick Cronin has missed out.
Ironically, his spot in the centres was taken by Brett Kenny, who was pushed out of his regular five-eighth spot by Wally Lewis.
The other threat greats were half back Peter Sterling, winger Eric Grothe and lock-forward Ray Price.
The full-squad is: Garry Jack (Balmain); Kerry Boustead (Eastern Suburbs/Manly), Brett Kenny (Parramatta), Mal Meninga (Canberra), Eric Grothe (Parramatta); Wally Lewis (Wynnum/Brisbane), Peter Sterling (Parramatta); Ray Price (Parramatta), Noel Cleal (Manly/Eastern Suburbs), Les Boyd (Manly), Craig Young (St George), Ben Elias (Balmain), Steve Roach (Balmain).
The Sydney Morning Herald commented on Cronin's ommission noting he "still holds the Eels record for goals in a match, points in a season and points overall".
"He will probably get strong support if a Team of the 70's is picked" the story said.
