Broncos injuries won't help Eels finals chances
This weekend contains a couple of games that will be pivotal to the makeup of the final eight.
The Eels can still make the finals if they win all of their remaining games and a couple of key games go their way.
Right now, the Cowboys and Tigers stand in their way of any shot at the finals. If both teams win, the Eels season is over.
The Tigers have a real opportunity to all but wrap up a finals position against what is shaping up as a heavily undermanned Broncos outfit. Darren Lockyer, Gordon Tallis, Shane Webcke and Shaun Berrigan are all likely to miss this weekend's match.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys will also have a chance to secure a finals spot if they beat the out-of-sorts Panthers. The Panther's star try scorer Amos Roberts is in doubt.
If other results go as expected, that is the Roosters to beat the Raiders and the Dragons to beat the Knights, then it is possible that the Eels could be sitting only two points outside the eight in tenth position after this weekend's round. A win agains the Panthers next week, would then mean they would go into the final match against the Roosters with a real chance of sneaking into the finals.
