Hindmarsh asks fans to cancel protest

Nathan Hindmarsh has asked fans to cancel the proposed protest rally before the team's next home game against Manly.

"I don't think it is a wise thing to do," Hindmarsh said in a Daily Telegraph article. "All I can say is 'hang in there', it will come good for us."

What is happening to the game? It is becoming an extension of reality TV.

**We have players on huge money behaving like boofheads.

**We have a so called Footy Show parading characters like Reg Regan and Trent the Flight Attendant showing behaviour that the boofheads this is the norm. When the boofheads emulate the antics, the same Footy Club members "tut tut". How hypocritical.

**We have Footy Show stars ridiculing a player who has chosen to live a celibate lifestyle.

**We have senior coaches sitting on the sideline becoming TV stars in their own right, mouthing obscenities for all to see when things don't go their way.

** We have a 'shock jock' commentators making a living out of the game issuing personal attacks on the few decent people left in the game. Playing the man, not the ball. Stirring fans up to boo personalities and calling for Clubs to sack people and ignore contracts. When he succeeds who will be his next Club or victim. Is he REALLY good for the GAME or is he GOOD for himself? Does creating controversy increase his market value at the expense of the game of Rugby League?

**We have players being ridiculed for their name..not how they play the game (eg Fui Fui Moi Moi)..is that racist?

**We have stars walking out on massive contracts and reportedly holding request for clearance over the head of Club officials with a threat of "spilling the beans".

**We have the CEO of a NRL Club (Peter Peters) using a position in the Media to urge a player (Brett Hodgson) to bucket a coach at a former Club.

**We have a coach at another Club (Brett Kenny, Penrith) telling a rival Club to sack its present coach. Kenny has moved on and should MIND HIS OWN BUSINESS!!!

**We have elite players not knowing how to treat women or how to display socially acceptable standards. In my opinion David Gallop and Geoff Carr are very good men. But they are being let down badly by people who should know better.

I am a passionate Rugby League fan. Wear my heart on my sleeve. After the last few weeks in Rugby League I am struggling to come to terms with what's going on.

I am wondering...Who is behind the rubbish?

Are people satisfying personal greed at the expense of the great game which meant so much to working class people in tough time - and still does? What is their agenda?
Do you get offered $7million dollar contracts by supporting the game of League? or do you get it by being contoversial? If you can get a stadium full of people baying for blood..is that more beneficial to your personal ego than cheering? After these media personalities get what they want. Who do they go after then? Who is the next victim?
Intead of taking signs to games bagging the players coaches and officials, fans should be taking signs telling the media to get their hands OFF OUR GAME". If we don't do it soon it will be TOO LATE.

Let's not sit back and see the "game' used by "people" to satisfy whatever ambition or agenda they have, be it personal, greed, lust for power or just of a destructive nature. If we do, once these people eat the game, the pie will be gone.
I am asking each and every Rugby League supporter to start asking questions. I have given some examples as a starting point only.

Lets pick up the ball and start running with it NOW.
